The illustration is comprised of 3 separate illustrations of Bowie’s face layered upon one another. The arms outstretched upwards represent the efforts of inspiration and creativity, meanwhile the figure looks downward. Bowie often dealt with the themes of alienation and isolation in his songs. I used the arms outstretched and the figure looking downward to express the dichotomy of inspiration vs the internal, darker subject matter of Bowie’s lyrics.
